
Tyler Williams, Ph.D., CSCS
Dr. Williams is a strength and conditioning specialist with a focus on exercise strategies to improve body composition, performance, and health.
Tyler Williams is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Samford University, where he also serves as the Program Coordinator for SamFit within the School of Health Professions. In this role, he trains and supervises students to conduct comprehensive fitness assessments for both community members and Samford athletes, integrating experiential learning while working to improve the health and fitness of the Birmingham community.
Tyler teaches a range of applied courses focused on the physiology of training, sports nutrition, resistance training techniques, and sports science. His instruction emphasizes evidence-based practice and the application of scientific principles into real-world performance settings.
He earned his Master’s degree in Exercise Science and his Ph.D. in Human Performance from the University of Alabama. His academic and research interests center on resistance training strategies to enhance muscular fitness, as well as the monitoring of fitness and performance metrics in athletes and fitness enthusiasts. Additionally, Tyler has over a decade of experience coaching and training clients that range from elite strength athletes to individuals wanting to live a longer, healthier life.
